Monument to the Discoveries

Known as Padrão dos Descobrimentos, the Discoveries Monument is an iconic monument in Belém, Lisbon. It is an ode to the golden age of Portuguese history. Most of all it is a tribute to navigators, who helped establish Portugal as a 14th-century superpower. This monumental 52 meters tall stone sculpture represents the prow of a caravel with all great navigators and Infante D. Henrique on its edge. While in here try to identify all the main navigators, such as Bartolomeu Dias, Vasco da Gama or Pedro Álvares Cabral. The Discoveries Monument has a small museum inside with temporary exhibitions that details the history of Lisbon. Also, has a great viewing platform at the top of the structure. Another thing is that it is extremely well located, nearby Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, MAAT Museum, and Electricity Museum. This private tour gives you an amazing sight to the river Tagus, 25th of April Bridge and Cristo Rei Statue. In addition, due to its location, it is also a great photographing point.
